Bow Press Mods
Has anyone tried to modify an older style press with a sidejack in to a fingers style press? I have a nice Toad that I would consider changing if it would work better on new bows.

Press
I am down looking at this Toad 400 press with side jack and have a possible solution to converting it to a fingers type press. The stationary side would be easy, just make an adaptor plate with fingers that would just move side to side so it will fit all bow limb widths. I am wondering if I could make a similar plate for the movable side. Then when you activate the jack that side would pivot towards the stationary side. I am just not sure what the pivoting fingers would do as far as alingment since it is not moving straight in but rather swinging in on an arch. Hope this make sence when you read it. What do you think about the fingers not coming in on a straight line? I know that the jack/press has the power to compress a bow in this way. ???
