i just picked one up and have never fletched an arrow before and it is cake this little guy is wicked awesome!
but the only downside that i have found is that i cant get it to fletch zeon's but am ok with that since i also got a bunch of blazers
ps if you get it make sure you have a fair bit of acetone to keep it clean...
Got to be the least expensive fletcher out their. Does a fairly good job. Also the quickest and easiest to use. Only does 2" vanes, but does put a nice helical on them. I've done the Zeons with it, and they went on just fine but they didn't stick well after 50 shots ( might be the Goat tough glue I use) As "Topcat" said not the prettiest glue lines but I did em up on wraps with the double dogs and the glue dryed up white on the clear wraps
I really like mine. I would use gel glue to help keep the glue off but when your done for the day drop it in a glass of acetone for a few minutes to clean. I bought mine at eders.com for $40 so you can get them cheaper.
+/- 50$ for mini EZ - fletcher working with only 2" vanes or less ,
62$ for Bitz - fletcher that will stick anything from 1/2" to 6" , fully adjustable and easy to clean.
Fletching tools are not perishable items , makes sense to spend few extra dollars on something that will last forever...
I've never fletched or wrapped an arrow before in my life but had a bunch that needed re-fletched and figured it'd save me in the long run if I just bought a jig and figured it out. I got the Mini and love it and it's a piece of cake to use. I used metal tape to keep the glue off the arms, and I used the Lock Tite Ultra Control Gel, so when I open the jig after about 45 seconds, the glue is still not quite set up and I can run a Q-Tip down each side of each vane to get any excess glue off. I was very impressed with how good of a job this thing did as well as how easy it was. I didn't have any issue with the glue lines or how it dried, but I am using white wraps so I wouldn't be able to tell anyway. Here are the ones I did and this was my first time ever fletching or wrapping. I'd say absolutely yes, it's worth it. It's already saved me the gas I'd burn driving 40 min each way to a shop and then paying them $3 per arrow.
I have the mini and fletch my easton Axis FMJ's with no problems. I use Flex bond glue and they won't fall off. I just put some blazers on my Harvest Time Arrows and they fly awesome with the 6* helical on them. Yeah the Bitz is a great jig but I love the mini due to the amount of time I save using it. I also clean all my arrows with acetone before I fletch.
I love my mini , I use FMJ's also and I have fletched with blazers , zeon fusions, and 2" razyor feathers with great results, if you look around you can find them for 39.99 ( Bowhuntersuperstore) I also use the loctite gel ( impact resistant) just use sparingly
I have the Bolt because I shoot aluminum arrows. Great fletching tool. If you get some glue buildup - just put the arms in some acetone for about 5 minutes and it will be clean as a whistle. I love it. I use Gorilla Super Glue and can fletch a dozen arrows in 15 - 20 minutes. Doesn't take much glue. Just give it a 'wet' look. Helps with those glue lines.
I didnt pay 50 for mine, but I can tell you even if I had to pay 50 for it, it was definitely money well spent. I have every variation of it including the mini, carbon, offset, right helical, left helical aluminum except the bolt............it is undoubtedly the best to use imo
acetone worked pretty good...ill try that wax trick though
