Is further back more stable or further forward. What is a standard distance from knock insert point to rear of fletch? I have many arrrows I have purchased and they are all different.

Close to the nock means the lever arm extending from the FOC is longer. A longer lever arm means the fletch will contribute more. And assuming the arrow isn't setup completely stupid, then more contribution from the fletch means a more stable arrow.
